I am fascinated by the fleeting, ethereal expressions arising in the field of tension between shadow and light. My constant quandary about how the world really appears when forms and physical context change completely with the ebb and flow of light is what drives me to explore nature and people in painting.
I work expressively in the tension between figuration and abstraction, painting or drawing on paper and canvas with charcoal, watercolour, acrylic and oil.
My inspiration comes from going close to motifs taken from my surroundings, people and the environment: the daily comings and goings along the path before my house, the glass of water on the table, the woodland walks. Although maintaining the subject's recognizability is important to me, my foremost interest lies in the picturesque and what is achieved through a subject's interaction with the colours and the life of the brush. Incidentals are incorporated as part of the process: streaks and splashes all find their place in the images as an abstract dimension.
I live in Helsingør, where for many years I have practised both my art and my design work.
I am a member of Kunstrunden Nordsjælland.
Happy I was to have the opportunity to have some pictures hanging at Malene Bjelke's 'Open workshops at Kronborg' on a Sunday in May 2025.
